Recognized as the leading cultural institution in Croatia, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival will, for the 67th time, play the role of the main producers of high-quality cultural events in Dubrovnik.
Based on a long and rich history and vibrant heritage of the City, the festival will continue, as they have in previous years, in insisting on ambience, the interrelation between tradition and modernity and locality and internationality. The Festival promotes Dubrvnik as a place of creation, meeting, of realization of ideas and new projects. It defines Dubrovnik as the intersection of Croatian and the worlds spirit and culture.
Traditionally, on Kandelora, at the festivals palace, the preliminary programme was presented. The artistic director of the Festival, Mladen Tarbuk, presented a comprehensive program emphasizing the connection the Festival will make with England and the rest of the world, in celebrating the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare by displaying his tragedy "Othello".
