The island of Korčula, especially Smokvica and Čara, have a well-known tradition in wine growing and wine production dating from ancient Greek times. The 2500 year old piece of press is displayed in front of the Smokvica winery as well as the remains villa rustica in front of which are vast areas of grape vines is yet another testimony which roves that this tradition derived from those times.
Pošip is among the most famous Croatian white wines. It is named after the authentic grape sort only found on the area of Smokvica and Čara. "Days of open wine cellars" gives You an opportunity to visit wineries and taste the wine.
