From August 26 to September 15, 2026, Ston will once again become a meeting place for culture, gastronomy, heritage, and tradition through the 10th edition of the Ston Salt Festival. For a decade, this unique event has connected the rich history of the Ston Saltworks with art, local customs, educational programs, and gastronomy, creating an authentic experience in one of Croatia’s most remarkable cultural landscapes.
The festival was established to preserve and promote the centuries-old tradition of salt production, which represented one of the most important sources of income during the time of the Republic of Dubrovnik. Today, the Ston Saltworks is both a unique cultural monument and one of the Pelješac Peninsula’s most recognizable attractions.
This year’s festival program features exhibitions, guided tours, culinary workshops, presentations of local products, cultural events, children’s activities, and live performances. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Ston Saltworks, learn about traditional salt production and fleur de sel harvesting, enjoy tastings of Pelješac wines and local specialties, and visit exhibitions dedicated to salt, heritage, and the identity of Ston.
The festival also includes the Eco Market, family workshops, theatre performances, humanitarian events, and a special concert by the klapa ensembles Cambi and Subrenum at Kaštio Fortress. The closing program will feature a symposium dedicated to the cultural landscapes of Adriatic salt pans and their role in heritage preservation and sustainable community development.
The Ston Salt Festival is a multimedia event that brings together local communities, cultural institutions, artists, producers, and visitors, successfully promoting Ston and the Pelješac Peninsula as destinations of rich heritage, outstanding gastronomy, and authentic experiences.
