The Korčula Sword Dance Festival will once again bring together knight associations from Korčula Island during 2026, presenting traditional sword dances that represent one of the island’s most recognizable cultural traditions. The festival takes place across several locations on Korčula Island, giving visitors the opportunity to experience authentic performances of Moreška and Kumpanija sword dances through cultural events and public performances.
The festival program includes knight associations from Korčula, Žrnovo, Pupnat, Čara, Smokvica, and Vela Luka, performing traditional sword dances characteristic of Korčula Island. Moreška and the island’s Kumpanija sword dances are protected intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia.
The event promotes the cultural heritage, traditions, and customs of Korčula Island and regularly attracts visitors interested in folklore, history, and authentic island culture.
