Oyster festival

Brijesta, Luka and Bistrina:

On March 19, from 11 am to 4 pm, you can once again enjoy the specialties of the Pelješac region; it’s time for Mali Ston Oyster Day!

The Mali Ston oyster has made the Peljesac peninsula famous and put it on the gastronomic map of the world. Many believe this is the tastiest and juiciest oyster in the world.

The Day of the Oyster in Mali Ston is traditionally held every year in  March because oysters are of  fullest taste at this time. Visiting the boats and mauns of local shellfish in Brijesta, Luka and Bistrina, you will enjoy this gastronomic delicacy. With the sounds of Dalmatian songs, excellent Peljesac wine and traditional local products you will be able to experience the charm of tradition and life of the local population, while the restaurants of the region will offer a diverse palette of Peljesac flavours.

Mali Ston oyster is prepared in various creative ways in local restaurants and taverns, but everyone agrees that it is most delicious when freshly taken from the sea, so raw and buried with just a few drops of lemon juice is the way the hosts prefer it.

“Malostonska kamenica” received the European badge of protection of origin and excellence in 2020 thus becoming the 28th Croatian product with a protected name in the European Union.  The badge guarantees the purchase of an authentic, unique and high quality product.
