Festival Tino Pattiera

The International Festival of Opera Arias Tino Pattiera will once again bring numerous opera singers to the City, reviving the memory of the famous tenor from Cavtat and a prominent figure in the major European opera houses of the first half of the 20th century. After a short break, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra is organizing the festival once more, named after the incomparable Tino Pattiera. They will present three outstanding concerts, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to hear some of the most beautiful opera arias of all time. The festival will be held from June 19 to 27 in the Rector’s Palace. The artistic director of the festival and the conductor for two concerts is Maestra Samra Gulamović, the resident conductor of the Sarajevo Philharmonic. The festival opens with a concert of film music titled „Star Box.“ Soloists will include soprano Valentina Elizabeta Šilje, tenor Tomislav Jukić, and pianist Naira Asatryan, who will premiere „Warsaw Concerto“ by Thomas Addinsell. Maestra Gulamović emphasizes that film music is a fantastic medium for promoting classical music, and that the works of Mozart, Bellini, Rachmaninoff, and Beethoven provide soundscapes without which many great films would be lacking.

The second concert will take place on June 25, titled „Puccini for All Time.“ It is a recital featuring soloists: sopranos Nikolina Pinko-Behrends and Sara Žuvela, mezzo-soprano Joanna Dobrakowska, tenor Roko Radovan, and baritone Georg Lehner, accompanied by pianist Stefani Grbić. They will perform arias from Puccini’s timeless operas such as „Tosca,“ „Madama Butterfly,“ „La Bohème,“ „The Girl of the Golden West,“ and „Manon Lescaut.“

The final concert of the festival is on Thursday, June 27, titled nostalgically „Once Upon a Time in the World of Opera.“ Performing will be sopranos Nikolina Pinko Behrends, Petra Radulović, and Valentina Elizabeta Šilje, mezzo-sopranos Joanna Dobrakowska and Laura Hladilo Kocković, tenor Tomislav Jukić, baritone Georg Lehner, and bass Sava Vemić. Together with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, they will take the audience through arias by great composers that speak of hopes, love, triumph, and disappointment.

The International Festival of Opera Arias Tino Pattiera is organized by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra with the support of the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board.
