The oysters of Mali Ston bay are considered some of the best in Europe due to the unique sea conditions, the expertise and history of the oyster growers. The Bay of Mali Ston has proven to be especially suitable for growing this delicious shellfish because of the freshwater Neretva river that flows into the sea and the frequent winter rains, which create ideal conditions for their growth.

Traditionally, the Oyster Festival in the Ston region is held in March because that’s when the oysters are the biggest and tastiest! This year the festival will be held in Brijesta on the 18th of March. And of course, it isn’t only oysters that you’ll be able to try, because you can’t have oysters without the fine wines from the Peljesac region.

So, oysters, wine, music and of course the favourite delicacy of many will be available this March.
